ATECA is market leader in copper-silver ionisation for legionella prevention and Legionella controlplan.
The ICA-system is based on the electrolysis-technique. By placing a potential difference on the copper and silver electrodes, ions of both metals are released into a water chamber. The ICA-system ensures constant concentrations of copper and silver ions in the piping network, which remain well below the Maximum Allowable Concentration (MAC) stated in the regulations. Inactivation of the bacteria The copper ions released by the ICA-system penetrate the cell wall of the bacteria and clear the way for the silver ions. This process stops the reproduction of bacteria. The ICA-system kills pathogenic bacteria, such as: legionella, ecoli and pseudomonas aeruginosa.Effectiveness The copper and silver ions seek out legionella and other bacteria and remain active until they have been consumed by these bacteria. This process enables the ICA-system to inactivate bacteria in slow moving and stagnant water as well. In addition to this, the ICA-system also treats the biofilm.Safe use of this ionisation technology requires close monitoring of the concentration of ions and the condition of the electrodes. The ICA-system is designed in such a way that it automatically administers the correct amount of ions and keeps track of the condition of the electrodes. The ICA-system developed by ATECA plays an integral role. Since 2001, awareness of the risks posed by legionella and the need for reliable and cost-effective solutions has prompted a large number of hospitals, nursing homes and industrial buildings to have an ATECA system installed. The functioning of the ICA-system results in complete control of legionella in the mains water supply.ATECA offers you completely personalised service from installation to maintenance. Certified water analyses give you monthly proof that the mains water is legionella-free. In addition to the certainty of a legionella-free location, the ICA-system saves you on water, energy and chemicals. The ICA-controlplan was drafted in cooperation with the Dutch Ministry of VROM (Housing, Regional Development and Environment) and the KIWA NV (Dutch Water Research Institute). It also fulfils the control of legionella “approved code of practice & Guidance” by the Health & Safety Commission and EU directives.

This inspection determines the pH balance, conductivity, degree of hardness and chloride content.Analysis of the mains water quality prior to installation One month prior to the installation of the ICA-system, the water quality in the piping network is also analysed. ATECA selects a few tap points for this analysis based on a risk analysis. The analysis concerns the hot water temperature, TVC (22°/37°), copper and silver concentrations and legionella population.Monthly water analysis after installation It is the policy of ATECA to have monthly water analyses carried out during the first year after installation of the ICA-system. The same tap points are always used for these analyses, which provide a good overview of water quality. After the first year, the frequency of the analyses is reduced to once every two months.
